Optimizing Existing Heating Systems

One of the ways to start optimizing your heating and air conditioning system is to change to high efficient equipment.

Not all, but the majority of central heating and conditioning systems have existing ducting systems that are too small for the equipment to be used to its potential, resulting in longer running cycles to heat or cool the house or building, resulting in higher energy bills.

Most ducting systems have fiberglass insulation with a R4 rating, or less. This results in a heat loss through the walls of the ducting. This causes higher energy to be higher because the furnace has to run longer and harder to satisfy the thermostat.

In some cases, duct systems are poorly sealed, which result in heat escaping. Again, higher energy bills.

The cure... A correctly sized, thickly insulated, and well sealed duct system.
